Cutting Extremely Long Hair

I have long hair, about half-way down my back. My hair can do very little and basically sits straight or goes in a pony tail. I have had this style since I was in high school (so almost ten years now). I want to cut it to the style where the front is longer than the back and it is just slightly longer than my chin. I'm afraid I might regret it. If you've had long hair and cut it pretty short, how did you feel about it later?

I had really long hair and I wanted a change. So I cut it. I honestly don't like the way it looks short so I am in the process of growing it out. I have really wierd thick, wavy, and poofy hair(though it was more maageable when it was long) so I didn't like how it looks short...but if I hadn't cut it I never would have known that I don't like it short. So I'm glad I tried it once, but I prefer it longer. It sounds like your hair is very straight and manageable, so I think this cut would work good on you...but you never know until you try it!
